“USDFA is for anyone with dwarfism who has ever wondered how good they could be on a level playing field.” -Zach Shattuck
Who Can Play?
USDFA welcomes players with dwarfism of all ages, gender identities, and experience levels who want to be part of the game of soccer. Our community includes young players discovering the sport, individuals interested in helping build and grow women’s and men’s programs, and players who are continuing, returning to, or finding new pathways within the game.
Whether you’re just getting started, looking for connection and community, or seeking a competitive or developmental opportunity, USDFA offers clinics, camps, and events designed to support long-term participation. You do not need prior national-team experience to get involved—just an interest in playing, connecting, and staying in the game.
-
Eligible players must have a diagnosis of dwarfism by a medical professional. This includes, but is not limited to, achondroplasia, hypochondroplasia, spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, and other forms of skeletal dysplasia that result in short stature.
-
While exceptions may be made based on proportionality and/or medical classification, generally, men must be under 149 cm and women under 145 cm. Please contact us to request review.
-
All athletes, regardless of age, must be cleared by a licensed medical professional to participate.
We will always provide an inclusive environment and support reasonable accommodations. Athletes, however, must be able to participate independently or with minimal support. Athletes needing additional support may be eligible for recreational-level sessions.
